Forest bathing is a new method of relaxation, improving your health, and stress relief that originates from Japan. It involves a person taking a walk through a large area full of trees such as a forest, national park etc. According to researchers trees release chemicals that can reduce a persons blood pressure and stress. It has also shown that if a person takes part in forest bathing it can increase your white blood cells, strengthening your immune system and helping you fight diseases. If you are interested in taking part in forest bathing in and around the Chattanooga area then there are a lot of opportunities. You can go to signal mountain, which has a vast array of forests, and hiking trails. If you are willing to travel a little further then you can go to the Chikamauga Battlefield. It has a large forest area and you can experience the atmosphere of a civil war battlefield. I think forest bathing is a great and natural way of way to decrease stress and strengthen your immune...

We live in a time where a lot of effort is put into making people know that only they can decide their destiny. We do live in an age where we have the ability to be whoever or whatever we want to be. Some people exploit that and become great, while others don't and fail. This poem is was inspired by the reality of nature and its relevancy to our society. The Sapling Young and fragile, thin, hanging on to life dearly, Unoriginal, but original in every way, Reliant upon greater beings, Knowing that it's life can snuffed out instantly, like a spark waiting to catch fire, The green dwarf of nature, with the potential of becoming majestic, a giant waiting to sprout, a king waiting to be crowned, it's watchers hoping silently, that only it can determine it's survival.

As you all know we recently had Earth Day, the day we celebrate the beauty of our planet, it is also the day where we promote support for environmental protection. If you look out of your window you will almost definitely see some sort of trash lying around. This is the problem we are facing today, and it is getting worse. Today my class and I went out to pick up trash and to see how much trash there is. The results were appalling. Every group of 2 people came back with a full bag full of trash. This has really opened my eyes as to the amount of litter just in our area. According to statistics only 6.6% of plastic gets recycled, 34.3% of all trash gets recycled leaving 65.7% of trash discarded and forgotten. This has already become a huge problem and we need to do something about it. We can start by stopping people from littering, we can cut a huge chunk from the statistics by just not littering.

Majesty of a Turkey Vulture The kinda true story of how nature ruined somebody's day It was one of the most important days of Bob's 8th grade year. It was the day of his language arts final exam. He had a lot of trouble concentrating in class so he wrote it in a store room with little distractions, or so they thought. He has just finished his first page and felt relatively confident on the rest of the test. It was on the second question on the second page where he heard the ear-drum bursting sound coming from the window. He almost fell out of his seat with fright, he didn't know from where or what this sound originated from. It sounded like a baby  bird that was being born, or a bird being eaten, there were a lot of similarities between the two sounds, the screeching and the crying mostly. The seedling The seedling is one of the earliest stages of growth for a plant. But I see it as the beginning of maturity. It is the beginning of a new life, the beginning of independent growth and a prosperous life. Yet that is not always the case. The seedling I found was in the middle of a vast forest on top of a mountain. It would seem like the perfect place for a young plant to grow and to evolve into a majestic, awe inspiring tree. But the one law that has been on this planet longer than us still has its effect today, survival of the fittest. It is the most basic yet the most supreme law of nature. It is this law that will lead this little seedling to its ultimate demise. During the winter of course all the trees have their own way of surviving, their own way of reducing water loss, to survive long enough for the summer to come.
